This site evolved after I discovered a true interest in genealogy. My maternal aunts and uncles started it all when they researched the ancestories of my mother's side of the family. It was they who discovered that my 26th great-grandfather was King Edward I, Longshanks. And so it was that I began researching the Sumpter side of my family in earnest, to discover my lineage also leads to the brother of General Thomas Sumter, of Fort Sumter fame.
Then the holidays arrived and it was the season for giving. I decided to research my sister-in-laws' ancestories as my gifts to them. What surprises were in store!! I discovered that not only did both of their families come to this country on the Mayflower, but that they are actually related due to marriages between early ancestors! I must say, I had fun presenting them with the news!
And so it is that I have grown to love family histories and the challenge of finding ancestors who have seemed to vanish over the years, and decided to offer my services to others. It is my hope to help people find their lost ancestors, and discover their family heritage for themselves and future generations to follow.
